Starting Karate
Sensei Sarah Fullarton started karate in 1990 at the age of 9. She has been taught by many instructors over the years:

• Sharon Justo & Leon Bennett (white to red)
• Sensei Rae Nursey (Orange to Yellow)
• Sensei Paul Raymond (Yellow/white to Purple)
• Sensei Michael Nursey (Purple/white to present)

Sarah has also been taught by other instructors on special occasions:

1. Kancho Kanazawa
2. Sensei Murakami
3. Sensei Akita
4. Sensei Mick Randall
5. Sensei Ticky Donovan
6. Sensei Terry Pottage

Instructing Sarah began teaching karate at the age of 14 years old. She taught both children and adults at the Sandy club and received her Assistant Instructors certificate. At the age of 15 Sarah and her Father both started teaching at the Baldock Karate club (April 1996), at the time both being intermediate blackbelts. In 1997, aged 16 Sarah was finally allowed to be awarded her full Instructors certificate, as it was her age that had been stopping her for the last 2 years, due to legal rules and regulations.

* 2nd Dan - age 18, June 1999
* 3rd Dan - age 21, November 2002
* 4th Dan - age 25, November 2006

* Qualified ESKA Judge 1996
* NNEB childcare / child education qualification. May 1999
* GNVQ Sport and recreation qualification (Sport Injury/ Fitness Instructor). May 2001
* Police Checked (CRB) - Enhanced Disclosure
* First Aid qualification.
* Fully insured and registered with MASA

Other Aims & Goals
Sarah also runs the Baldock Karate Club where she has helped 13 students get to blackbelt and 16 students get to intermediate blackbelt. Sarah has entered many competitions in the past (mainly individual and team kata) and nearly always came away with a trophy or medal. She has participated in a huge amount of ESKA championships but also outside championships, including the Nationals at Crystal Palace. As she has got older she now prefers to train students up for competition, rather than compete herself.

Family life & Other Hobbies Outside of karate Sensei Sarah is a very sporty person. She played football for Stevenage Borough Ladies, until karate took over full time. She has tried many sports including gymnastics (she is very flexible!!), ice skating, tennis, golf etc. She has a little girl called Leyah who was born on 16th June 2005 and a little girl called Amber who was born 1st May 2009....who will hopefully become blackbelst themselves one day. Sarah is engaged to her partner Alan who she has been with for 11 years now. Alan is a 3rd Dan blackbelt & Qualified Instructor. Alan was Baldock Karate club's first ever student and Sarah has taught him all the way from white belt.
