Payments & Money - Kimpton Karate Club
1) Monthly fees - We do not let students pay as they go. Students must pay for a month of lessons (which has its benefits for you and us). Your monthly fees MUST be paid on your first lesson of each month, before the lesson begins. Months fees are the only payment asked for on a regular basis. If you are ill or are away on holiday your monthly fees still need to be paid. The lesson(s) you miss can be made up before or after you are going to be absent from lessons, as long as it is in the same month. These make up lessons can be done at Baldock or on one of Kimptons extra training sessions.
Fees are kept to a minimum amount and are charged to cover the cost of the hall and your insurance. If fees are forgotten on pay night, you will not be allowed to train. We accept payments by cash or cheque. If you wish to train more than your normal one per week, a discounted price is asked for (pay as you go) and you will need to ask your instructor which time and day to attend.

2) Licence Renewal - When someone owns a gun, a licence is needed for legal reasons. This also applies to martial arts practitioners, as they are also seen as being dangerous. Licences needs to be updated every January. This payment is once a year and goes to the Karate governing body. You do not have to have a licence but if you hurt someone on purpose or by accident you will have to pay the compensation (which could run into thousands or millions of pounds). We at Baldock will not allow anyone to train unless they have a valid licence.

3) Grading Fees - GRADING IS OPTIONAL!! We provide a grading (test day) every 3 months but you do not have to grade every time and we somtimes suggest to higher grades that they may benefit from grading every 6 months rather than every 3 months (not to grade every time) this saves money, allows you to get the amount of lessons comfortably and makes the student more confident when tested. Gradings are carried out at the Stevenage Hombu dojo and the gradings are run by Sensei Nursey (Chief Instructor of ESKA).

4) Other Money - Twice a year there are ESKA championships, where you may enter and compete against other karate members in all different catagories. These championships are open to all grades and it is totally your choice if you decide to enter. At Christmas the Kimpton and Baldock Karate clubs hold a Christmas Presentation and fun evening. This is usually a 2 hour session and a small fee is asked to cover the hall ect.
